Carousels descended from games of knightly skills from the Middle Ages where mounted knights tried to capture metal rings with their lance points. In the late 1800's European carvers immigrated to the US where they began creating horses and other animals for carousels. By the mid 20's more than 4000 were in existence. These 6 horses are based on historic designs from the golden age of carousels. Armored king horses that would have led the carousel, standing horses with 4 braced feet to allow their riders to try to grab the brass ring, and jumpers that moved up and down to simulate galloping round out this collection of horses in the finest style of yesteryear. At 300 dpi on a transparent background with no drop shadows, these large high resolution images are perfect for both print and web applications. Please see readme file for exact sizes. The background in the promotional images is not included.
