Since the last Mystery Model thread is buried two pages deep by now, I thought I'd post this here instead ....
Check out the new Morphing Blunt Cut hairstyle at DAZ for another glimpse of Stephanie (the Mystery Model).

I can't find the Morphing Blunt Cut hair at DAZ. I looked in both the New Rreleases and the Hair section, but I don't see that style anywhere. Melanie

Here's a convenient quote from the DAZ site: Note that you can easily interpret the identity of the Mystery Model 2 different ways, depending on the way the commas are used: **** This paragraph appears to identify Stephanie as the Mystery Model: "Who says one hairstyle cant flatter everyone? This easy maintenance look can conform to Stephanie (the Mystery Model), Michael, Victoria, and the Millennium PreTeen." **** But you move the comma, and you might think the Mystery Model is someone else, and Stephanie and Michael are the same person. "Compatible with the Mystery Model, Stephanie Michael, Victoria, Michael 2.0, Victoria 2.0, Millennium PreTeen" Notice, Mystery Model is seperated from Stephanie by a comma. But Stephanie Michael are together. So is Stephanie the same as Michael? **** This reminds me of all the clues people found to convince them that Paul McCartney of the Beatles had died back in the 1960's or 1970's. Or it could just be bad punctuation. Ron
milamber42 posted Wed, 06 March 2002 at 8:39 PM
Mendi posted a picture in the thread Dan F started. I think Stephanie was wearing one of Jim Burton's Victoria Essentials outfits. I hope both Vicki's clothing and textures work with Stephanie.
Pinto posted Wed, 06 March 2002 at 8:40 PM
Little Dragon, if you are refering to the DAZ "Morphing Flat Top", I think you are looking at Victoria. They reference Victoria 2 in the compatiblily text above the images. Perhaps we should use that Victoria image as a comparative reference to Stephanie when it finally comes out. LOL Pinto
Pinto posted Wed, 06 March 2002 at 8:41 PM
I should have updated the page before I replied. Sorry about that. Pinto
melanie posted Wed, 06 March 2002 at 8:50 PM
OK, I found it (thanks milamber42, for the link). The first four figures in the illustration are Stephanie. The reference to the Mystery Model is in parentheses, which means Stephanie is the Mystery Model. I guess she's not such a mystery anymore. But, hey, I'm still excited. How often do we get a real human figure for free? A new character for the Poser universe is more than welcome. Melanie

If you read this paragraph, it is not so clear about Stephanie being the Mystery Model: "Compatible with the Mystery Model, Stephanie Michael, Victoria, Michael 2.0, Victoria 2.0, Millennium PreTeen" The Mystery Model is separated from Stephanie by a comma. However Stephanie and Michael are together.

Well I'm excited about the whole thing, I can't wait to see exactly what's going on... I hope that this means that they'll turn Vicky into a male figure next! I like having more than one option for a character... no matter what you do to them Michael and Vicky characters retain certain aspects that give them away... Stephanie doesn't look like Michael, you've got to give her that much, and she doesn't really look like Vicky from what I can tell from the pictures I've seen... so it's a great option... I really really hope that they'll turn Vicky into a male character next to give us even more options for people in our scenes (hint, hint DAZ folks). It looks like from Mehndi's picture, and the one from Ms. Trie, that Stephanie can wear Vicky clothes, so you don't have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, and if they turned Vicky into a Male character that could fit into Michael's clothes, even better! I'm excited about a brand new poser figure for the first time in months! Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of characters that have come out recently that I'm still excited over... Mehndi's wood elf, and Xena's Pamela for examples, but this is a WHOLE NEW figure to make ALL new characters with! This is exciting news! At least for me. :)
Grey_cat posted Wed, 06 March 2002 at 10:11 PM

Grey_cat posted Wed, 06 March 2002 at 10:48 PM
No, because of the size diference between Vicki and Mike the joint centers won't line up. Only Vicki's clothes will fit him.

Blunt cut hair? Blunt cut? Well, just DON'T try to say THAT 10 times very fast. As for the Mystery Model, well, yea, I was hoping for something for Mike like a decent addition to his wardrobe or something. But, hey, it's free! And, I guess if we really, really want to be really, really sexist we could say that Stephanie IS something for Mike. I said we COULD. Didn't say we had to. And I think I already have a role for Stephanie in an upcoming project. So, it does work for me. I appreciate the thought behind the gift from Daz. Okay... mm........ well.. it seems its like this. Stephanie is a character, or rather, a set of morphs for mike that change him into a her (ala Mehndi's pics) Now also this model can use Vicki clothes though I'm not sure about the texturing issues as of yet. now... as far as the pictures go, Mehndi got special permission from someone at Daz to tantalize us just a bit more with some new pics. Also, she is used in the demonstration pics for the new hair and teeth models at daz. That clear things up Poserfool? Anz

I thought that Dan Farrs "Mystery model" post explained pretty clearly the concepts, thinking and reasons behind the Stephanie figure (Isnt the "mystery" tag a bit redundant now?) Remember this isnt a freebie or gift in itself, weve been given an opportunity to own what will probably be the next DAZ character for a lot less money than some other people will have to pay for it. And that`s a good thing B).

Hi, Ron, I think the quote you saw at DAZ might be a typo on their part. Here is what I just copied and pasted directly from the Blunt Cut hair ad page at DAZ: "Who says one hairstyle cant flatter everyone? This sexy cut can conform to Stephanie (the Mystery Model), Michael, Victoria, and the Millennium PreTeen." I think this means that Stephanie is the Mystery Model, because it's in parentheses. I could still be worng, but that's how it looks to me. Just my opinion. :) Melanie
melanie posted Thu, 07 March 2002 at 7:55 AM
Poserfool, it's probably the beta testers who already have access to using her. Melanie
milamber42 posted Thu, 07 March 2002 at 8:04 AM
poserfool, DAZ usually has a select and fortunate few people who beta test their products for them. They keep quiet about the product until DAZ gives them the OK. Since Mendi was given the green light to post a picture, DAZ is probably getting close to releasing her. Usually DAZ releases products on a Friday afternoon (evening -- US time). I just hope they are prepared for the site traffic when they release her.
Mehndi posted Thu, 07 March 2002 at 8:08 AM
ROFL Well... this select and fortunate few... erm... one... is heading to bed now. Haven't slept hardly at all in 3 days whilst testing. Hrm... do I feel fortunate? I will think on that after I get some sleep ;) I do feel happy though, she is a GOOD work... and I got to help make her that way.

Mehndi, When you awaken from your well deserved slumber can you tell me if there are ERC, EMC (whatever they're called) problems between Stephanie and Michael?
Lyrra posted Thu, 07 March 2002 at 6:17 PM
If this is a new model what does it have to do with michael? Either its a new model (new geometry) or a modification (morph) of an old model (sharing geometry). Is there an option I'm missing? Lyrra
Mehndi posted Thu, 07 March 2002 at 7:22 PM
Hihi Bam, you know? I have been so busy on other testing things I have not even found time to load Stephanie into a scene with Mike to check for crosstalk issues. I hope that is what you mean by ERC problems... and I am not sure what the correct term is either ;) However, as I understand it, all morphs bearing the same name will have crosstalk problems perhaps... I am not an expert here :( I wish I knew more. Maybe Jaager knows?
melanie posted Thu, 07 March 2002 at 7:42 PM
Lyrra, apparently Stephanie is based on the Michael geometry, however, it still makes her a new "character," being that she's not Michael, but a female character. I think it's going to be a great addition to the collection. Not all characters should look alike and any new ones are more than welcome. I'll really looking forward to getting her. Melanie

nice Mehndi, but the trademark michael shady upperlids is too apparent in that render - thought they'd have fixed that. :/ Make the eyesockets shallower or something, so even lighting newbies shouldn't get it. I quite liked the first pic of her i saw... I guess it wasn't as noticable cos of the dark lights. But in light scenes it shouldn't be there.

The pic above that you have posted is her default face with no morph dials turned :) She has a classicaly beautiful face, very neutral and able to take almost any form.

Oh, one more note on the above render... unless I am mistaken, that has been rendered in Lightwave, Maya... something with a radiosity renderer, which drastically affects lighting and shadows and shading.

Every time a new DAZ figure comes out, there's a plethora of criticism and negative comments. It seems to go with the territory. For some reason, there's a percentage of people here who take a microscope and go looking for flaws. I'm just grateful for a new character that will look different from the others. The real world is made up of different faces and looks, not all the same, so Stephanie is a very welcome addition to the Poser Population. I just hope we all get her soon. Hey, does this mean Michael has a sister? She's from his gene pool, right? LOL Great work on the sample renders, Mehndi. Melanie
