There are quite a few things I would eagerly  buy here but the lack of DIM is a real obstacle. Not for installing, but to uninstall.

I'm pretty certain it wouldn't be a real problem, so what ?

Otherwise, poser is alas on ICU, and DazStudio seems to follow. What do other people use for simple picture rendering ?

I use Poser.

What's DIM?

It's the DAZ Install Manager (DIM); it installs DAZStudio Content and retains installation paths for easy removal from the DS library. The DS files need to be packaged with a specific subfolder hierarchy, with the topmost folder entitled "Content." When you use DIM, the app strips out all the subfolders from within the "Content" folder and places them into the library. Again, all the subfolders need to be named accordingly to match the DS Library.

There was a small program developed to create DIM-compatible files, and it was available for free. It was called DIM-Maker-V0.4. I don't know if it is available anywhere; perhaps the Waybackmachine has a copy in its archives. I do know DAZ3D offered a DIM Maker in their store.

Ah. I would never use that, if you let things install themselves your runtimes will be a mess pretty quick. That said, doesn't Poser have that functionality built in?

Poser does have the capacity to install Renderosity content in two ways: one way through the library panel and the second way manually. Installing manually does provide the option to select which runtime folder you want; not so with the automated library option.

DIM does provide options where to install content, but the pathways need to be established first within its settings. I have successfully installed purchased/free DAZ Poser content with it into my different runtime folders.

Interesting I will have a look.

Just as a side note...people making content for DS should use the correct folder structure whether it's got DIM or not. It's really annoying when something isn't where it should be. That said I could just be a bit anal and have edited morph files so they show up where I expect them to be. ; )

I want that -- at least if it'll install things into different content directories, because I have about a dozen.

Right now I'm using Content Package Assist to package my Renderosity purchases for DIM, but it can take some time to assemble the packages <she says, about 1/4 of the way through packaging an EVERYPlant biome because who doesn't need a whole Permian forest?>

@Matronius- is there a video showing how this product actually works. I purchased an installer a couple of years ago and honestly the thing was a nightmare. It failed to install somethings and I did not find out until I attempted to use the items I believed had been installed.

I love the Universal Product Installer.
