Hi, My first posting to a forum. I have several own characters that I have modelled in AMAPI and skinned in CARRARA. And would like to a some stage put a couple of them in the free stuff section. But would like to know if it is possible to export them so they could be used in POSER. Without having to re-skin them in POSER, so they could be used by more people.

Attached is a WIP of one such character and her machine

Thanks

Mike

Far as I know, rigging with the Poser "bone" system is still required. Maybe that will change in some future release of the program. Carrara will export a properly sliced mesh, however, and there are various tools that automate to some degree the basic work of getting a mesh rigged in Poser. The downside is that you have to use Poser's primitive system -- joint zones instead of vertex weighting, et al. And getting good results from the Poser rigging requires a fair amount of tweaking of joint parameters IN Poser.

Thanks for helping out Nomuse, You have much more experience with Carrara to Poser than I do. I'm pretty much a Poser to Carrara user. Mark

Thanks for the input.
It's not a big problem, I just didn't fancy having to rig again.
When she has a few more morphs and clothing possibilities, she'll be a CARRARA only freebee then.
For a while. (Till I get my backside into gear and learn poser)
Thanks again
