I have been looking through the galleries and have a few questions about Carrara. First off if I model and texture stuff in Wings3D. Can I import these models into Carrara, and wil it keep the textures, or will I have to retexture everything?
Secondly, can I import figures from Poser into Carrara, using dynamic hair and cloth. I don't plan to do animations, only still pictures right now, but maybe animations in the future. Are their any problems I should worry about?
About the cartoon renderer, does it automaticaly convert my textures to look cartoon like, or do I have to do that manually?
About the skys. I am planning a series of images where there is no ground, only sky. Is there anyway to get rid of the horizon line?
Lastly, I'm on a g5 imac. Are there any problems on the mac that I should know about?
Thanks.
Sincerely,
David

I didn't think wings3d textured? If something uses image maps or converts to them you can use it in another program, if it's procedurals...it doesn't work too well if at all. Second, one varies greatly. I would worry, if you get to that point
Cartoon render has defaults, but you may not like them. Toon Pro!, a plugin, has more options.
You should be able to change camera angle anyway you want. Uncheck the ground box. You should download the demo, if you haven't already.
No need to think outside the box....
Just make it

Not that I know of. I've had to resort to workarounds like parenting everything to the camera, which is no big deal really. There is an annoying bug that creates brightness issues if you try to use more than one cloud layer, but you can do a lot with only one cloud layer anyway.
C5Pro is a great renderer for Poser. Subjective territory, but to me it fits like a glove with Poser.

I'm on a g5 mac - I've never tried to get rid of the horizon line, but I'm guessing that with realistic sky if you set haze and fog to zero you would see no line. That line is the haze and fog, just like Bryce. Just aim the camera upward with a wide angle lens (24mm or so) and you should get all sky. Also there is a swtich to turn off the ground. Click on the word scene in your scene list and turn off ground for the sky settings. The realistic skies in C5 are very nice. Also the harsh line is caused by thick haze hanging very low. I know in realistic skies you need to set the size of the scene. A more expansive scene will make haze more realistic and remove the line, since the haze will be more realistically distributed. Scott

I'm afraid that's wrong. We had a lengthy thread on this topic a while ago. I'd be thrilled if there was new info that helps though.

I'm not sure about the Mac version but on the PC, when you select Realistic Skies, there is a check box there that you can uncheck to get rid of the ground plane, then you only have sky.

It doesn't work that way, unfortunately. I'll see if I can find that thread from a while ago.
