Subject: Another image lots of people make

Here's something I made while watching Season 3 Gilligans Island. An image I've seen lots of others make. It turned out to be an interesting challenge when it came to the shaders for balls 9-15 (those with the stripes). I'm not done with it but it came out cool enough to post for now. -Kix

Nice Kix... is it about to strike the one? If so, some motion blur is in order... Care to share your shaders? I'm curious if you did the stripes procedurally, or with textures. Next up... the corner pocket and the lampshade overhead for the reflections... :D

It's tricky to add the numerals if they are in the polar position, but it would be intuitive to do the bands in the equatorial position. However, I'm guessing the bands are circumpolar, using spherical mapping.

The numerals are in the polar position. I used a primitive sphere and converted it in the vertex modeler. I then UV mapped the polar circles to be the places where the numbers would be. The stripes are then procedural. -Kix
