Hey guys, I'm back into Carrara & Rhino, after a short hiatus due to work and life. I finally have some time ot play with C4 Pro, I'm most interested in the CAD-Style plugin built into it. Except, I havn't successfully imported anything with it yet.. I'm lost and wondering what I'm doing wrong. I'm exporting a simple model form Rhino as a .3dm file, and trying to import it into C4Pro.. I go to import and the import box comes up, and I select my file, and then the import options come up, it all seems fine. Except, it's not really showing up, it shows what appears to be a hot point in the workspace, and it lists it in the properties and alll that jazz, but I can't do anything with it.. What am I doing wrong?

Once imported, the object shows up in the browser, as a nurbs surface, but all I see is the hotpoint.. I can select it and give it a texture, but I can't see it in preview or render, and I can't resize it.. Hmmm... Confused, Any clues??? thanks, kaom

Here's the propties and stuff, I can't scale it, and the scale is set to 0 and won't change.. It says it's there as a nurbs surface, what did I do wrong? Help??? thanks, kaom

This MAY work, Click on your Ball3 to sellect then go to Edit--Promote to Master. (This is allways worth a try when all else seems to fail)

Thanks, I tried it, but nothing...Hmmmmmmmmm............... I've been racking my brain all day over this. I can import as obj's & 3ds just fine, but no cad style imports are working. thanks, kaom

When Adaptive NURBS Tesselation (crack free) doesn't import from Rhino, I choose Standard NURBS Tesselation. And vice versa.
3DM files should work with one or the other. If neither works, either your 3DM format is newer than Carrara's, or the 3DM object generates to many broken NURBS and Carrara loses track of them. Do you know which version of Rhino they came from? I can email you a pretty neat 3DM object if you want to try it out in Carrara?

Did you try not disabling auto-scaling?

Something is up. I'd think it has something to do with the Rhino file if you tried the same file from both 2 and 3 with no luck. I opened up this from the rhino2 into Carrara4 Pro without changing any of the defaults. It's not that big of a file but does have a lot of trimmed surfaces. Have you tried some of the sample files from Rhino2/3 to see if anything will work? If nothing works you may need to reinstall Carrara. Maybe drop a note to Eovia support first and see what they think. If you can put up the file someplace I can take a look and see if it opens for me. wayne k guam usa
