Eovia CADstyle is a full-featured plug-in that enables users to directly import CAD models and assemblies into Carrara Studio 3 by natively reading the most common industry-standard CAD file formats. Price $299 Follow the link for the rest...war2 posted Wed, 23 June 2004 at 12:26 PM
yeah it does look pretty nice, as a vue 4 user i have to confess im starting to get tempted by c3, i was initialy trying to hold on for c4 to see what it would bring to the table, but what the heck, carrara and vue will make for a nice companionship :)considering that they do quite different things and i seriously doubt that will change. the one downside im finding with the c3 demo is the lackluster gui, but c3 + cadstyle and the powerpack feels tempting. with that said whats the scope on c4, any info @ all about it, or is it still to far off in development.

CAD plug ins isnt worth unless you have a library of CAD models to import it in Carrara then it ll be worth to buy. On other hand I think it is bad idea to have this separated plug in to distract customers to outside CAD softwares. I really think that it should be included in Carrara 4 and upgrade modeling interfere in vertex and spline room.

OR... you have designs for clients that are done in CAD for accuracy of real places, that then need to be presented to clients simply and cleanly. Like it is designed for. I'm VERY interested myself, but I'm not sure if it will work with my CAD software, making it not quite worth it to try, without a demo.

bluetone, Depending on your budget you might consider sidegrading to Amapi Pro which imports from CAD programs. You could at least try a demo for that first! And Eovia now do download purchases for their software which saves $20 on the Amapi pro/Carrara sidegrade price of $429.
