Started this one back in Ray Dream using splines and booleans. Which of course makes for a terrible mess. I had to wait for a faster computer and a more comfortable mesh editor before I could go in and try to work on it some more. I think I will never use booleans again!

Above is a rough test; untextured, default lighting, with the lower roof sections faked by duplicating. I'm now at work adding to the lower sections so the tiles stay in proportion. And, of course, since none of the seams line up, it isn't pleasant work. The final version will have to make use of master objects since otherwise it would top 30 megs. Part of what kills my polycount is there is no creasing in the model; all sharp edges are done by detaching polygons.

Its a very generic Japanese castle, using simplified details from Himeji-jo, Yamagata-jo, and Nagoya-jo (which I visited and photographed, but not in quite enough detail it seems!) If I ever finish will need central keep, outer wall and moat, small towers, lord's house and garden. And the dolphins, of course!
