Just discovered Sub-D's don't export in .obj; all I get is the original density of the cage. Convert to other modeller, Primitive, seems to do it (convert to other modeller, vertex, leaves the Sub-D's in their original state). However, such conversion destroys the polygon names (which I use for materials and groups). Is there a way to force a Sub-D surface into poly's directly, without losing other information?

I'd suggest just exporting it as is, and keeping the polygon names, etc. And then doing whatever you plan on doing, ie. texture mapping, and then reimport and then subd usually it ends up mapping just fine, if you have or are getting CS3 if it doesn't map properly just edit the map in the uveditor and all should be good. Well...is being imported to Poser. So I need those group names. I did find the simplest route; duplicated object, deleted all but the section I wanted to "freeze", converted to primitive modeller, converted back to vertex modeller, copied, then went back to the original master and pasted.
