Anyone doing this with Carrara? I have some files, but I can't seem to open them. They are recognized by C in the dialog box, yet when I say 'OK' either nothing appears in the sequencer tray, or I get a error message. Help!

Welcome to the insanity of 3D file formats. There might be two issues here. Issue one: The author of the program exported by accident to the 2D version of .dmf (Happens with the .dxf format all the time)2D formats are useless to Carrara. Issue two: Despite the fact that a file may have a .dmf file type (or .wrl, .stl for that matter) it may not completely follow the "approved" file format language and consequently, not open in other programs that are supposed to read those file types. One of my clients has an engineering 3D program that exports to .stl. After they export their files, even their own program can't open it up despite the fact that it is supposed to read those file types. Solutions: Amapi handles different formats pretty well. The newer the version, the better it handles them. Try opening with Amapi and exporting to a different format. (I've had the best luck exporting as .obj) There are also some free format translation softwares available on the web. I'm sorry not to have some direct links for you to go to however. I had the same issue on a project and was searching for a solution. The PC side has several freebies; apologies for not keeping those links if that is what you use. The Mac side, which I work in, had some freebies in the forms of Demos for Maya and LW but they wouldn't export the files once opened since they were Demo's :( Good Luck
