I've read the article, what's been suggested.....as far as i can make out.....is that every single AI image every created...is a "derivative work"  a creation that includes major copyrightable elements of an original, previously created first work. make of that what you want.....how exactly that assumption was made is very unclear

so is most fine art and almost certainly all cottage arts and crafts as done by the unwashed masses

we don't live in a vacuum

one cannot draw fan art at all without referencing the original

the masters of the past blatantly copied each other, historically copyright is a fairly recent thing

ai is only a threat because it is considerably better at it
