Video Center Now Live!
June 23, 2008 10:17 am
|The video feature
is now live on Renderosity! Upload and share helpful tutorials, or
reach your customers in a unique way by promoting your MarketPlace
products. The video feature is easy to use, and easy to share with
people inside the community and out!
To ensure that the best tutorials are available consistently to our members, a review team will be in place to review all tutorial submissions. Only tutorial videos, MarketPlace promotions and paid advertising will be accepted at this time. Videos not related to the three categories listed previously, like slide shows or personal videos, will be deleted by the video review team.

If you have a tutorial you think would be helpful, we encourage you to submit it! Any genre in the digital art realm is welcome. Also, feel free to use the video feature to help with your next product rollout in the MarketPlace! We look forward to also providing more functionality in the future to help make the Video Center one of the most popular features on the site!
There are additional Terms of Service (TOS) for using the video module that can be read below. The standard TOS for the site still applies as well.

of Service (TOS)
The Video section is for educational, instructional tutorials and Renderosity advertising related to the 2D/3D industry only. No personal videos are allowed.
Videos are subject to the following guidelines:
No human nudity is allowed in the videos. Untextured mannequins and wire meshes are allowed for instructional purposes. Violent imagery is not allowed. You should own the copyright, or have the right to use, any materials shown, including audio files.
Very cool idea. I think you should add a few things to your video terms of service though such as: the maximum length of time the video can be, what format the video should be when uploaded, the dimensions of the video (such as 640x320), and also the maximum file size that is allowed. Just some suggestions, because if you get these videos too long or too large in size you'll be running out of server space soon. -James
ererere is it a good idea ? i think this could end up a tacty mess or some thing like a late nite tv advert section but its a good idea for tutorials or as conniekat8 says 'how to use them' products but i guss that its a wait and see thing sorry for saying that but prove me wrong!
"What is the maximum file size? Max file size is 100 mb." But when you go to actually upload a file, underneath where you "browse" for the video to be uploaded, it states the Max File Size is 50mb. Which one does a person go by? Otherwise...cool idea!
Unicornst, 100mb is correct it got upped and I need to get the upload page changed. Sorry about that.. adh3d, You will be able to put the video on your actual product page:) There is a forum post in the Vendor forum about it now I believe, with the details. If its not there yet, it will be soon..
Please- use it in the right place. Video is great for TUTORIALS. The format here is too small for Marketplace images, which are best in large, still image format (as they have been up till now). Merchants should NOT abuse video because "it's cool"- that would ruin the Marketplace.
From the sample videos up already there's something that may be confusing/distracting/disturbing (to me anyway): using a separate short clip intro/preloader. The scrubber progress bar makes me think that is all there is (before loading then running the main vid). Ad insertion just wreaks of commercial TV - yuk. Other than that I think the video feature ROCKS!!! Single vid streams...pleeeeeze?
Video tutorials are always useful especially for novices like myself. With written tutorials people tend to start off explaining everything in great detail then get bored of typing. By the middle of the tutorial they're using technical terms to save words and we mere mortals are lost. With video that won't be a problem. I just hope this won't slow the rest of the site down.
I've looked at the example before reading the opinions and I agree with the majority here , it's better for tutorials not for the regular market place. we already get to see still images by clicking on the more images option, the only difference in the the example is we sat and watched the still images being scrolled on a video format.
Thanks to Renderosity staff about this great promotional tool! Well, I was surprised to see it today but I can admit I'd waited it for some time to happen! Well, now that I have entered into project relationship with another Renderosity artist for making a slide show movie with my music, this is going to be our promotional bandstand! The quality of video should be better of course with choosing another codec. Size of 100 Mb for 10 minutes means a big compression.? Can you make its look more intuitive and attractive? This is a great new way to promote our artistry and I hope it's going to develop and stay cause multimedia is everywhere and it finally reached us here! Thanks to Renderosity staff!
i think its a good idea, but the software just doesnt display the uploaded video well at all. if your going to have this type of service you need to beetr background plaer to allow for the upscaling to run the videos at larger resolutions without the current pixelation that you get with the player as it stands.
