Blackhearted© is excited to announce updates to the
Anastasia character for Alyson 2. Renderosity
had the opportunity to speak with Blackhearted© about these changes and this is what he
had to say.
Renderosity: Anastasia was
very well received here at Renderosity. What prompted you to
provide an update for her?
Blackhearted: I enjoy
providing updates for my characters. For many of these - like GND4
for V4 - the base model is still going strong with a large
user-base. As such it has gone through a few major content updates
to freshen it up, add more versatility and add support for new
Poser features. As long as the base figure has not become obsolete,
I will continue to update all of my GNDs with new content. It’s
not as profitable as putting that time into new products but it’s
much more rewarding.
Renderosity: What benefits
will these enhancements have on current owners of the Anastasia
versatility. There's a new 'GNDA_Young' morph that softens her
features and enhances her eyes. This can be dialed right up for a
dramatic difference, or you can just use it at partial strength to
slightly soften Anastasia. The new promo with Tyler uses it at half
strength (0.5). I've also rolled my freebie ElfEars morph into this
update so it’s there on the base figure - it complements the new
head morph quite well.
The new Level IV makeup shaders are intended
primarily for portrait use - they solve the problem of many makeup
textures getting washed out/fuzzy looking when used with an SSS
skin shader and allow users to customize by simply changing the
Eyeshadow_Color node on the head material. The makeup has its own
specularity map so it will react to your scene lighting. There is
also a 'hidden' Alyson eye fix, created by Nerd3D. This solves an
inherent issue with Alyson's original eye centers and allows them
to rotate perfectly in their sockets.
And, last but not least, there is Tyler.
Tyler is being bundled as a free
bonus with Anastasia. There are both PC and Mac
installers included. This gives users another source to download
Tyler and also ensures that Anastasia owners can always get him for
Renderosity: Can you tell us
about some key differences between the Anastasia and Alyson
Blackhearted: Anastasia is a
complete rework of the Alyson 2 figure that comes with Poser. I am
not exaggerating when I say that I moved pretty much every vertice
on her from her toenails to her scalp (the back of her skull is
relatively unchanged to allow compatibility with Alyson hair). On
top of that there are JCMs in the shoulders, knees, elbows, toes
and calves for both better bending and to flex her muscles as she
moves. There is also a lot of 'fluff' content such as morphs,
props, poses, lights, etc. Despite the fact that Subsurface
Scattering (SSS) was one of the key features of Poser 9/2012, the
base figures take no advantage of it. The attached portrait shows
the difference between base Alyson 2 and Anastasia in the same
lighting (Depth of Field and hair was added to Anastasia).
The base Poser figures have often been passed
over, but I believe what has been shown with both Anastasia and
Tyler is that any figure can be brought into the mainstream with
enough attention. They also exist as an unofficial 'base' for
people to take into new directions using additive morphs - as I've
done with Shae and other merchants are already starting to do with
their own characters. A large component of the development of both
Anastasia and Tyler was fixing issues with the base mesh,
resymmetry, anatomy, joints, etc. They are now much easier to work
with and shape into new creations.
