The Paula Sanders Report:
Siggraph Summation from Boston

SIGGRAPH 2006 is over. As I think back on it, I personally think of all the people I met with whom I have corresponded for years. Some of these are the wonderful people from e frontier, e-on software, Corel, Wacom, Xfrog, and many more. I know I have left out many, so please forgive me. I also met new people and I am excited about the reviews and tutorials I will write in the future.

On the last day, my husband and I looked down over the crowd and he took this picture of part of the SIGGRAPH floor. Actually, he took the picture; I just supervised!

The following are just some of the things I will remember. Every day at 3 PM, Renderosity held a drawing for software. There were so many people that they filled the aisle.

We had a number of Renderosity members and fans come to the booth many times. Here are some Renderosity friends with the people from Renderosity itself.

But not everything took place at SIGGRAPH during the day. Most evenings there were parties if one had any energy left. I must admit, I only made the Renderosity party which also included a surprise birthday party for Lillian arranged by Dee-Marie, even though she did not attend the conference in person. I have to admit, I knew about it and actually did keep it a secret. Instead of a cake, there was a birthday pizza.

Some of you might have read about the award winners in the Annual Adobe Design……Contest (I can’t remember the full title). SIGGRAPH had some of the winners at the Guerilla studio showing their animations and a few still pictures.

This was an unexpected treat for me because I happened to be there making a monolith print as instructed by Mary Ann Strandell.

Hey Paula, I would love to learn more about your monolith printing experience. By the way, thanks so much for keeping a secret ... couldn't have made the birthday pizza happen without you :] Outstanding images of the conference, and I eagerly await reading the forthcoming articles and tutorials.
