The End is NEAR!

We are pleased to announce we are nearing the end of the year long php conversion. We have a few more changes to announce as we bring the remaining few areas over to the php platform. Today we are adding a new "Site Search" feature that will allow members to search for articles, freestuff, and other member's galleries and homepages. Next week we will be bringing over the Animation Outlet. It will be incorporated into the Free Stuff section as it's own area. All the current animations will be brought over to the new area. The Animation Outlet will be disabled until next week when it comes back live in the freestuff area. There may be a few days when you see a lot of animations in the "What's New" area of the Free Stuff section. The Member Photo Gallery is going to be transformed into it's own unique "Snap Shot" Gallery where members can post not only pictures of themselves, but also other fun and enjoyable quick pics they want to share with fellow members. Because we are changing the scope of this gallery, we will be starting with a clean slate. The Snap Shot gallery is now open so we invite everyone to come in and post in this new gallery and see what other people are posting. We are pleased to announce the old Web Ring will be evolving into a cool, brand new "LinkShare" option. This new feature will provide a convenient and easy way to link back and forth with Renderosity. The LinkShare will work similar to the way the Web Ring used to. We will be migrating the old Web Ring statistics over to the new LinkShare. This new "LinkShare" feature will support the "Sponsored By" gallery links. In order to participate, everyone that currently has the old Web Ring code on their website will need to update the code with the new LinkShare code that we will provide as soon as it is ready. We are all excited to be near completion. We appreciate your support and patience with all the changes. -The Renderosity Team

I've been noticing one problem with Firefox with the forums. On a fairly regular basis, the site lags for about 2-5 minutes, locking up almost all programs I have running, and then when it comes out of it's funk, it's showing that it has repeat opened the same forum 5-9 times in my "back" queue. I think the lag is caused by the javascript posting system, but other sites don't seem to cause this same degree of lag. Just letting you know of this issue that I've discovered in case no one else has mentioned. Oh, also, Renderosity causes Bryce to crash during saves about 75% of the time on my computer if I run both at the same time. Very wierd, ironic, but wierd.

and so if the end is near, THEN will the site speed up?? Sorry and maybe it is your coupon thing that is making the site SO SLOW again... I am trying to be patient, the site still has more pros than cons for me so I am hanging in...but...gee... maybe after the "end" comes some of the "clean up" will take some of the bandwidth hogging bells and whistles off to help the speed? ... like WHO CARES what art I stopped in to glance at and rendo has to make thumbs of...etc.?! Sorry...but this place is important, so I just have to speak up!
