I ran into AgentSmith today and had a blast perusing the exhibits including a visit to view ZBrush's latest version, 2.5. Wow - what a program that appears to be and one definitely worth checking out once it's released. I'd hoped to meet Lillian to say thanks for my passes but will do so here. I really enjoyed meeting some of the folks here (AS & Foleypro), as well as Doc Mojo who was an utter hoot. Thanks again R'osity for the pass and to AS for putting up with my company and excited chatter. I had a great time! ~arry :)
Lillian, Jen, Eric,Agentsmith & Friend, it was great metting you folks. Theresa and I had a really great time, spent some money there, and probably more later this week via online!! Sorry to have missed the others there! I was wearing the Maiden shirt if you all glanced around and saw it! Renderosity rocks!!
It was so great to finally meet you guys! I had a great time. There are some great programs getting ready for release! Can't wait for the new Vue Fusion and Maxon's update to Cinema 4D. Those are "must have" programs! I'm all drooled out. Wish I was still there, but I'm back locked up in my office today.
So far I haven't found anyone. I have been in contact with Lillian, but that is it. I spent most of Tuesday on the show floor, but I didn't see anyone. I was at maxon for a while and I passed by e-frontiers. I was walking around in one of the red & black Integrityware shirts. I have the same type of shirt on today. And I am still looking for people. Hope to find a few.. SPZ...
Well Shoot! I was too busy looking at everything a the Conference to read my e-mail...and see that you were all here. Great Conference. Lucas conversation was very good. Graphics theaters are all excellent. I think I'm about "conferred out" by this, the fourth day however.
I met all the Daz people & e-frontier people who were all so cool! Also met AgentSmith--ran up to him at one of the tables outside the cafeteria and exclaimed "Oh I recognize you from your photo in the Daz forum!" like some kind of crazed groupie... :) Met some people who had actually seen my art in the gallery and were excited to meet me!!! To me Siggraph wasn't quite as exciting as it used to be. Not as much virtual reality and really futuristic stuff. But Houdini & EA games had pretty fun parties! And I especially liked the odds of like 50 guys to every girl! Now I'm going to sleep for a good 12 hours... :) Alicia
Whew! What an amazing event. Sorry the Day 4 highlights didn't get posted yet. Sigh...the ISP at the hotel went down and I tried for 2 hours get connected. So, we'll get the last set of pictures and info up ASAP. ariannah, so sorry we didn't get to meet in person. I'm so glad you enjoyed the passes! Peggy_Walters, SPZ-Desdinova and agiel it was great to get to finally meet you all in person! odditorium and Theresa, EricofSD and AgentSmith and Charlie it was wonderful to see you again :) Siggraph ROCKS! Lillian
Didn't connect with any 'Rosity folks -- was too busy running between sessions. To my mind the most interesting themes for the graphics community were: 1) CPU vs. GPU -- this is an interesting contest. Realtime, or "near-realtime" raytracing on the CPU is a major effort, and already exists in cool products like FPrime. A full day course on the subject was notably supported by Intel. . .who'd love to see this trend accelerate, obviously. As a counterpoint, Nvidia supported a full day course on general purpose computing on the GPU (graphics processor). This shapes up to be a fascinating technology battle which will offer graphics users a lot of power. . . 2) the continuing development of HDR technology. Paul Debevec and friends, most notably Greg Ward, continue to push on HDR . . . simplifying the creation of HDR lightprobes is something that all 3D types will appreciate. 3) Coolest feature in new software-- XSI's "Gator" retargeting texture and animation information between meshes with different shapes and vertex counts.
