Description
Hello All!
Today I went to movies. When the movie was let out I stepped outside to what felt like an oven…it was like 106 degrees ! at first, I simply wanted to bolt for my air-conditioned car. But felt a a magnetlike pull toward the fountain on the other side of the building as I visualized in my mind small children playing there. I couldn’t see any children or the fountain in that moment as it was blocked by buildings but followed my premonition.
When I got to the fountain there she was with the most beautiful eyes and angelic look. This little doll-faced cherub plucking the store front marigolds then taking them to the fountain pool to cool off dipping them to relieve them instantly of their thirst. I asked the mother (who was sitting at a distance) if I could take her child’s picture and she didn’t mind at all.
The child continued to dip the flowers one by one in the cool fountain pool. I asked the little angel what she was doing. Her head popped up at me and I shot this. She then answered my question
”Hotfowers tirsty I wat’tain dem -giv’em dinks “her determined mission was consistently followed through as the process was repeated .
My first instinct was that
I should tell her to stop picking the marigolds
But that wasn’t my job as I wasn’t her mother( her mother was preoccupied with talking to a friend to notice and clearly I could see the childs heart was into it. The innocence and beauty of childhood exploration and her need to give and feel important seemed more important than the life of the marigolds at that moment.( knew they wouldnt last long in the heat as so many had died already anyways.) When I walked away I hoped that sweet angel wouldn’t return soon to see that the flowers were no longer
living there…
* best if view at full size thanks!
Thank you for all your time and comments!
Love to you all!
((( BIG HUGS! )))

Holy Moley.....this is the very best child shot I have ever seen, and to be accompanied but such a beautiful yet morally unsettling story[would the mother have noticed if you walked off with the child?], is a real bonus...keep up the excellent work...very glad to have discovered your work

A beautiful child with wondrous eyes. Over here in the UK taking photographs of other peoples, children, or even your own, can be full of pitfalls and a touchy subject. She is lovely, hope her Mum had got her sun hat at 106 degrees!

forgot to say before i left mothers email and told her i would send her the pictures she was the sort of Mom who was flattered that i would ask and take her picture!!... here in my comminity there are many people from the movie industry that live here many of the kids are in commercials or movies ( like the little boy that was playing with my chrissy a few days back is the son in the TV sitcome according to jim lol) so not a big thing here it seems .. i so make sure always ask though first and get thier email to send them my pictures as a gift to say thank you.

What a delight she is! And so determined to help the poor marigolds. You've really captured a jewel here. Her mother will be so happy with your photo! Thank goodness you followed your instincts and brought us this treasure!

I love this image. What a fabulous shot. She is absolutely adorable and doing such a precious thing. That is the sweetest story. A Child that age would think that she was watering them and helping them. What a wonderful fantasy world young children live it. I really chuckled at this one. She is soooo cute and I love the pose you caught her in. Wonderful image my friend. Hugssss

You always seem to find the 'magic' that is going on around us that most of us miss. This one's a real treasure, from tips of her wet fingers, to her wonderous big eyes, to the fading marigolds. And your words make this a perfect blending of image and story. Superb work. CC

Digimon () 9:30AM | Sat, 15 July 2006
Very cherubic indeed! Those eyes are stunning!! Actually reminds me of those cheesy velvet paintings where the children have eyes 3X the normal size/proportions. Excellent capture!!!

An angelic doll-faced cherub for sure! Stunning how you find such remakable situations with out the setup that would otherwise be required to get such superb poses! Bravo!
