A second photo from Sea World of San Diego, California. At that time they had a facility for the rehabilitation of injured walrus and released them back into the Pacific Ocean once they were capable of taking care of themselves. The big male, in the upper right, was huge at 3,700 pounds (1,700 kg). I thought that the whiskers were very interesting and I did not think that a walrus, with no tusks, would survive in the wild. Photo taken October 1991 and scanned recently. It will zoom.
I have been notified by Rendo that 3 of my postings, from the last 2 weeks had made the Art Charts on the List of Favorite Images. I thank the artists that visit my gallery, commented and added my photos as their favorites.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.
They are very much appreciated.

Well, Mike gave you the Beatles. My offering is more classic: The Walrus and the Carpenter Were walking close at hand; They wept like anything to see Such quantities of sand: "If this were only cleared away," They said, "it would be grand!" "The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings." A terrific capture of this big boy and companion. Congratulations on making the charts and I hope you had a happy birthday, Dana.

I not long ago watched a documentary about this place, about their research into walrus breeding cycles. I trust you had a great day, and well done on the charts!

Those walrus really look like they're having a good time in the water!
I'd like to imagine one of them singing in the water in a baritone.
