So here I go again. This tiny and rather prehistoric looking little bird is a dove. They hatch babies as long as it is warm. There were two but the tiny one did not make it thru the night. Maybe another one will come in. These guys are different in their care. At this age they are fed crop milk from the mother. I feed them with a special mixture and a soft tube. They only eat every 4 or 5 hours. The crop has to completely empty between feedings.
So we shall see how this goes. As the number of animals in my care has slowed down, I should be able to take and post several pictures as he grows.

No doubt he is a lucky little one to have fallen into your care. Look forward to his/her progress pix.

Strange lumpy beak it has... and here we plainly see the wax-like tubes with the beginnings of feathers growing out of them. Funny looking fuzz, I suppose it's for the development of shorter, fuzzier feathers. Yes, more photos as it grows so we can see more of the feather development and other changes. Love these photos! And I do have more of your photos at home, so it's not just on my office wall! They will have to come down soon as I have a bit more than a week before I leave work for good. Keep up the good work! :-)
