Description
So I made more velvet--a lot of velvet--and now it's test time. The area light does not seem to like it for some reason, it got very grainy inside her right sleeve. I will try some other light sets tomorrow. These are all Superfly mats; I'm still learning all this PBR stuff. (Also they lie a little, it's not all true to life :D)
That's default la Femme with the number 4 makeup, and a dress I think was a freebie? from Tipol?

A very nice render. The body of the dress does look like velvet.

Ah, maybe up your samples or whatever superfly uses. I don't use a lot of velvet shaders, but in Iray I believe they use two shaders, one for the lit side of the fuzz, and one for the shaded side. I think.
Iray actually gives you a backscattering tab that works pretty well--the key is to make the Glossy color darker than the Diffuse color (gives you that edge blend effect) I think this is the formula: diffuse roughness .43 glossy layered weight .33 scatter only glossy roughness 1.00 backscattering .35 backscattering Roughness.17 And that makes pretty good velvet with just a few bright points :D

I think the velvet is really coming along. Your work seems to be moving in the right direction. I applaud you for digging into super-fly. Well done.

The render looks amazing as do the velvet shaders. I am sure Poser users will love these.
