"... we should not be splitting up."
"The palace is under attack; there isn't time to argue about this."
"Exactly, it only dilutes our forces..."
".. and borrowing Chalme's vest does not count as being dressed for a battle."
"What, and you are? That weave wouldn't stop a heavy breeze."
"At least I have shoes on. Make your way to the armoury and meet me at the landing pad."
"This is the last time I wear heels to the Officer's Ball. You owe me a dance when this is over!"
"Gladly, now go."
This was a fun scene to put together. I am trying to piece together the framework and backstory for a story project I am working on, and this tumbled together from the detritus. It feels, with practice, that each scene is getting easier to compose. I am still barely scraping the surface, but I no longer feel quite like a novice. I did have an odd issue; no matter what I tried, I could not get the material on the cape swapped out. It would change in OGL, but in Iray it stubbornly stayed shiny silver. That is a nut I'll need to crack before long.
I just *barely* scraped under 4GB for the scene, meaning I could use my GPU and did not have to resort to billboard or GIMP trickery, rendering in one go. I did cull bumps and normals from the distant figures and reduced textures on nearly everything but the two characters in focus. There are a lot of little assets packed into here, but I'll try to list them all.
