Gorgeous shot. Looking at it, I can understand why the Navajo consider this place sacred.

When I was a kid, my mom had a huge painting she did in oils of Shiprock.. I don't know what happened to it - I would have loved to have that painting..
Great shot of this iconic formation, Richard!

Sigh . . What a magnificent emptiness . . . What a magnificent punctuation to that emptiness . . . What a wonderful place to breathe. Breathing now . . Thank you for that. . .

Now this is pure Richard: a wonderful spacious and majestic shot, with the grand rock standing like a prehistoric temple. Great light on it---it's so clear and majestic. And the light crosses a band of your image, and leaves the lower third sunken in beautiful dark shadows. The upper half is a complex clouded sky. A beautiful image of a stunning sight. In your image, the mound is monumental, but also gentle. I don't know how you achieved both, but you did. Bravo.
