the buildings (or landing ships ?) are used a little bit often, but all in all it is nice

At dp2 a guess both use MJT for placement. Good use of this style Ryan. Wide camera angles make buildigs topple....but I know you wanted to show the terrain. Good to see your works. Could I recommend a low level Volumetrics duststorm to finish the image?! :-)

I thought maybe I went overboard with the repetition but then I thought I got away with it because some new civilization has just landed so all the living pods or whatever they are would be the same. As to Woz's guess, yes, I just imported a collection of models as one mesh and MojoTree varies placement enough so it all looks different. Each mesh contained the tower and three craft. You can of course take this further with varying sizes.

The sky is a trick to stop the clouds looking flat without the extremes of volumetric render times. The clouds are very far from the planet so the angle between camera line and clouds near the horizon is not sharp. For thick cloud cover you can get away without volumetrics but if the clouds are more open, cumulus style, then volumetrics are needed to get the realism. I should also add that the atmos colour is driven by a sun direction - ray direction dot product graph.

This is an excellent render on many levels..The understated colors give it a stark look..perfect for this type of scene..The landforms fit right in as the remnants of a past metropolis..From a pure Mojo view..the sky and landforms are very well done...Bravo my friend..excellent work..
