This is delightful. It hardly seems like Christmas, but this is the prefect “card”. Let’s hope 2021, (after January 20th), is a much better year.

well I'm a little late wishing you a merry christmas, but I hope your holidays were blessed. You caught the toy soldiers, love those big teeth and their outfits, the cat gazing curiously ("are those human or what???"), and the tree in the background in night-darkness. (w/ gifts...) I always thought christmas was at its most primal in the post midnight hours, when everyone was asleep, and the trees and gifts sat in blissful mystery. (In the middle ages, as you might know, artisans, singers, jugglers and the like would walk through towns on christmas eve, singing and heralding their savior, bringing magic and mystery with them. I assume they were the origin of our age's carolers, to the degree that caroling is still done, outside. It must've felt like this scene, all dark and mysterious as the artisans outside wafted by with their drums and cymbals, then disappeared into the night...) A sweet evocation of the most wonderful spirit of the day.
I hope you're well, Barb, in and out. And I hope you stay well as the pandemic seems to have come back with real force (no thanks to our departed president). You have to be happy about the exit of one of the biggest jerks in our country's history, and the entry of a president who is actually going quite progressive, and oozing in determination and compassion. It was so relieving, which I'm sure you were happy to see, esp as you lived through the darkest days of the pandemic, right at ground zero. I hope this year moves towards light for you, and I hope you dwell in health and wholeness throughout. A much better 2021 to you! I hope to be back soon with more than just a handful of comments...
