From the early mid-Cretaceous period from what is now Malawi south east Africa, Malawisaurus is relatively small for a sauropod. Length estimates are 36 feet to 52 feet. I split the difference for this image. Finding skull materials and full skulls is actually rather rare for the long necked sauropods, but there is a decent amount of skull found for Malawisaurus. There are a few incomplete specimens known, thus the wide discrepancy on size. It is possible there is a species in South America as well. Africa and South America were much closer in those times and land bridges may have existed to allow travel between Africa and South America.

Nice scene but I believe those pines came along much, much later. And snow capped mountains? Well done anyway.
You are correct on the pine, but I use it because it has an "old" look to it. The BG is South America and has some Aurucaria in it, which did exist back then. Also snow could and did exist in certain areas and on high elevation mountain tops. Malawi at this time was very far south and could potentially have a high mountain with snow on top, especially in the winter months. Thanks for the comment and the observations.

Middle Dino: I think we should get out of here. Closest Dino: Oh, why's that? Middle Dino: I had a dream, a big huge rock falls from the sky and kills us. Last Dino: Scornful laughter. Big rock falling form the sky! What have you been chewing!
