Description
Now I've got a character, I think I got a style, and all that's left is to think up a story.
Kyna is Gaelic, meaning "wise, knowledge and logical." She was named by a friend.
Quite a lot of work over the last three days to reach this point. Lots of steps, but once I got it figured out, it comes together nice and smooth. And is easily repeatable.
The character gets a "colormap" filter. 6 colors, 24 tones. Then I run it through a "Film Grain" filter set at 30% opacity. On top of this, I placed an outline render.
Then the backdrop. It's simpler. I just used a quick "Sketch" filter.
Now, I know I'm not Cam Kennedy, but I think I got a style that's not terrible. So, it's off to the races!
I nervously await your feedback!

This looks absolutely great! I love the style, the overall "comic book" feel works really well.
Beautiful work indeed!

Brilliantly crafted character, looking really cool and i like the postwork / treatment....if your looking for some feedback...or refinement. In my humble opinion the green on the skin..is a little bit distracting...but not overpowering...its more a personal preference observational thing...the outline render or ink lines, that's is a lovely touch.. possibly a bit thinner so you have a little more detail in the areas like the hair and sword instead of losing the detail....but as always...at the end of the day it has to be what your happy with...quality work...looking forward to seeing where you go with his...!!!
No no, the feedback is great. Truth is, I'm colorblind, and it's been reading as a mocha-brown to me.
I actually thickened the outlining to give it a more heavy-handed look. I don't know why, it just tickled my fancy that way. I did pick a hair model that takes to the process nicely. The "nordic" hair I used on Olympia certainly improved through the process, but still lacks the sort of definition I hoped for.
I think I'll do a full sequence, render both these meaty lines and some thinner ones, and play with it. Might be a case where I layer them together. Like, thinner over the hair. Erase the thicker lines. Something to play with.
As long as its fairly easy to repeat, it's worth trying out.
Thanks a lot!

Well, Kyna looks "Kyna" dangerous with that poker (sorry, couldn't resist...LOL), but this does have a really fun and delightful look to it! Ya did good!
I'm looking forward to seeing this story!
Thank you. I got page one up now, though It doesn't have any text. I don't think it needs it. I'm going to start on the next one, which should have more than one panel.
Setting my size to the Golden Age standard of 7.75 x 10.5. The goal is to do 32 pages of story. And see if I end up running it for years past the intended run, lol
