I hope everyone enjoy's this image - it's my first Steam Punk render. I saw the In Fantasy RiverCottage and I new immediately that I had to use it in a Steam Punk render.
This is also a first for lighting as well. The scene contains only ONE light. The RiverCottage setup includes an environment dome, so I used that for indirect (bounced) lighting with a single spot light.
Thanks for looking, and as always all comments, suggestions and crits are very welcome.

The poses look very natural, excellent work here. And the light dome is a charme! Have you just used indirect light in the rendersettings or skylight, too? It's just the curiosity of another carrara-freak ;o)

Wow! Thanks so much everyone for for all the wonderful comments!!! Jedi Padawan - that's right, the scene just had indirect light (and raytracing) enabled, no skylight, and only one light (spot light) lighting the entire scene. The environment sphere provides an enclosing surface for the light from the spot light to bounce off of to provide good indirect lighting. The environment sphere, which is a vertex object that surrounds everything in the scene, would block the skylights. To make the image visible on the inside of the sphere I enabled the glow channel in the the shader tree. The image used to texture map the environment sphere is like a spherical HDRI image. This is the same technique many people are using in Poser 8/Pro 2010 (known as IDL in Poser speak) to get GI, since Poser doesn't have true HDRI. The plus for using this in Carrara is that render times are fairly fast. I rendered theis image at 2000x1500 with the settings at max, or one step from max, with improved edges and caustics (for the window glass) enabled, and it only took a little over 4 hours to render on a dual core laptop.

Love this scene and the fact that you only used one light is very cool.
