Description

Time to flesh out some companions, because everybody needs a friend.

First concept piece of a "Goblin Fairy." I used the adorable Sassafrat by Fred Winkler as the base. Loaded twice. One with normal ears, and hidden, to load the hair onto. Easiest way to deal with the mesh stretching around the ears. At least that I know of.

I loaded her "human" skin, and then removed the diffuse overlay before applying the color. Sassafrat has a bump map, so this leaves it looking like skin.

diffuse overlays also removed from all eye parts, then the color set to black. Keep in mind, she'll be tiny in most frames, so might as well save on textures. It also looks more "natural" with the violet skin.

She looks cute at every stage of post, too. Raw render was pretty good, too. I'm tempted to try an iray render, just for fun.

Don't know how big a role she'll play yet. Going to work out a few concepts over the next few days. I've an idea for a romantic interest I want to explore, as well as a couple other characters.

This week is always tough, so I'm distracting myself with this project this year. I like being productive. There was a time when depression would just shut me down entirely. Even though I'm not leaving my bedroom much, I'm also not just lying here staring at the ceiling.

Let me know what you think, and feel free to suggest names.

P.S. Fairy creatures will likely be appearing nude in this comic. This isn't becuase of any sort of perverse notion - just that scaling clothes down looks wrong to me. At that size, the stitches should look massive. I'm hoping someday somebody will create fairy sets with exaggerated stitching. Until then, we'll just have some cute naked fairies in this world.

I think she is going to be a lot of fun to hang around with. What I'm not sure of, is whether or not Kyna is. Is she bitter? I mean, probably a little. It's a mystery to me, but as I work on concept art I get closer to finding out.
