Here we go with Page 16!
I'm trying to speed up production on these pages (already have Page 17 in process) as there's going to be a ton of stuff happening pretty quickly in the story. Stay tuned for some interesting plot twists!
TNA has set up a bit of a "smoke and mirrors" operation to throw off some of those in certain "high places" who tend to get a little bit too nosy. Interestingly, we've had a most curious incursion into this operation.... You can read about it HERE. Stop by if you get a chance and show Jim some love!
In the meantime... Yes, we'll soon be getting back to Melanie, Ranpha, and Betty on the yacht as they approach the Panama Canal. Thankfully it's not the Suez Canal... Although I'm sure Ranpha could find a way to get that big freighter un-stuck. There might not be much of it left afterwards, though.. LOL
As always, thanks so much for stopping by, and for all your awesome comments and support! You all rock!!

FIrst, I love that Joey---not the brightest bulb in the ceiling---calls Kinnie "Freak": If someone suddenly glowed neon green at me, shouted incantations from the 12th Century (or from eons before that, from another planet), and sent big green rays zapping me to the ground, I think I'd cry, "whatever you want---name it!" This installment unfolds in seconds, releases a rash of action, and leaves us even more on edge than before. You gotta do commentaries on this stuff---like they do on DVDs and Blu-Rays---I mean with your director of photography, one or two of your stars, w/ anecdotes, behind-the-scenes stories, etc. And a "Making of..." documentary, with interviews and deleted scenes...not that you don't have enough to do, but hey...hire some scholar who's studied your series for years and has written books about it. It could happen...it could happen...
Great job with this flash installment. The first frame is so open, and the 3 women just burst into it from the back. Love the long empty perspective (and those great graffiti'd walls.) Then you cut to Kinne and Marissa, frame 2: We still don't know if M will survive: You're keeping us on our toes. And special red lighting on Joey....In these series, you often create "deep focus," even though you're doing it in 3D rather than with physical lenses: It's very effective, it brings all characters into focus, makes them sharp as a tack, and increases the drama as well as deepening the space. (Your 1st frame has it too.) In fact, the second frame is filled with contrasting elements and postures.
In 3, Kinnie's not only bursting in radioactive energies, she's intoning some ancient formula, which you illustrate in strange rune-like letters in soft-focus (and shining green). Really well done, Rod. And this Joey dude is cool: If I saw someone doing this to me, I wouldn't say "what the hell...", I'd say, "Ahhh am OUTA HERE!" Followed by, "BYYYYYYYYE!") Everything is in skewed focus, as if her force skews time and space all at once.
4 shows the rays doing their thing. (And what's on that screen, lol? You pack in the little treats, you little devil...is that the ship of the other teammates? flamingos in florida? I'm squinting to find out...) Great action shot, with a dropping gun. And in 5, the switcheroo, sending us into more doubt: Will he do more damage? hurt more people? You even boxed off the 'blams' like an old comic book---love it when you use comic book elements. And your "to be continued". (Damn right it's gonna be continued: If you said "I think I'm gonna stop here, folks," you'd get 20000 peasants banging your door down with a huge log...)
Great fun and really well done; even joey in the last frame is sunken in green shadow. It's always great to re-enter your gallery with another of your installments....Rod, my arm is starting to shout now, so I'll return to more of your images on the weekend. Stay well and healthy, and glad you got the J-and-J, and had no bad reaction from it. I've got one more to go...Great job on this page!
Oh, just wait.... 17 is coming out tonight or tomorrow at the latest. So, you want a "Making Of..." DVD in the package, eh? OK, no problem. I'll give Peter Jackson a call and see if he has some good tips for me! LOL Actually, I am planning on doing a few snippets of my creative process, so stay tuned, buddy!
Thanks for your awesome comments, Mark. You see stuff in my work that I don't even see.... ..LOL
