Lake Tahoe was Mrs. Sea_Dog's favorite place in the world and Emerald Bay was her favorite place at Lake Tahoe. And who can blame her? There are several hiking trails nearby, including our favorite that takes you down to the shore and follows the water out around the point on the left and along the shoreline north for a few miles. I had planned to hike that trail but the trailhead parking lot was full and had cars in every aisle waiting for someone to leave. Oh, well. Maybe next time.

you were fortunate for clear sky making for a quality capture. I have been here, but did not have time to walk around. besides it was quite cold

Between 1947 and 1952 my parents owned the lodge very close to where you snapped this picture. I was born in 1950 so I never got to enjoy the beauty on display here (heavy sigh!) My parents were always buying and selling real estate and this is the ONE place that I really wish they had held onto. You win some. . . you loose some! Wonderful picture.

the blue here is striking, it makes the lake like a jewel. And, as in a number of your other landscapes, you have clarity in the jutting sections of land, in the mound in the middle of the water, and in the waves and terraces of earth beneath the waves. A shimmering shot. And the background mountains are quiet and faded, as they should be, being as far back as they are. (You may know this, but it's relevant to repeat it: One of the things Renaissance painters did, to break from the Middle Ages, was acknowledge atmosphere, how it interferes with detail. The medieval artist painted nearly everything in sharp focus, flattening the space; but the Renaissance artist acknowledged the decaying effect of space, thus allowing space to sing its own tune. I say this because, again, photographers will too easily sharpen everything---it's so easy in PShop---without realizing what they're robbing from the shot. I had to learn that. But, coming from 2D, photography was a late addition to my life...I'm still learning.) Very delicate, eloquent shot.
