Almost to the low point of Death Valley and this coyote has been with me for about two hours. Very friendly - I think that it was the "beef jerky" that kept his interest. He stayed on his side of that yellow line the entire time except to share a drink of water right out of my hand. I don't think that I was the first to do that.

You are a brave one. Letting a Coyote drink right from your hand? Nice capture, looks as if he is unsure of the camera.

WOWWWWWWWW I am jealous, Dana. He must have trusted you, not much traffic, I hope????

Coyotes can be quite forward, and we have some here. They will enter right into a building looking for food and water. The drought conditions bring them down from the hills. Excellent capture.

Oh Dana, how precious! A real cool looking dude! LOL @ the beef jerky!!! That is probably what made him so attached! A very neat image of this fellow!!! :)

It's tough for him to find water there! I'm glad you gave him a drink - I would have done the same. Animals understand the proffered food or drink very well and they are seldom as dangerous as some make them out to be. On a hot day butterflies will come to your hand for a drink and they've never bitten me yet!

Quite a capture to be sure, Dana! I saw a fox do the same thing on Mount Rainier a few years ago. Kinda sad, though, to see wild animals like this reduced to begging food from humans.

Awesome capture! I had a coyote for as dog when I lived in Harbison Canyon, California. He was abandoned in the hills as a pup so I took him home and raised him. Friends took him in when I moved from California, I sure miss him!

when I left DV on the way to Scotty's there was one also.I was not brave like you. I am afraid of a wild animal being wild and also a big chance of rabies.excellent shot. were you walking?

Great shot. Imagine trying to subsist from the slim pickings of the desert...but obviously, he finds enough to keep going. I am surprised he drank from your hand.
