Description

When Bruce and Julia entered this part of the cave Julia couldn't completely hide her surprised reaction. She saw the young man in red first with one arm in a sling. He was young, maybe sixteen or seventeen. By his outfit, she knew he was Robin, but without the mask. She remembered meeting him along with Gordon and seeing him in the fight in the lab when Batman escaped.

At a console with a large screen on the wall, sat a nicely dressed yet balding and older man. It was actually hard to determine his age, but she assumed this must be Alfred. She only ever saw him in brief glimpses from TV when Bruce was in the news and getting into one of his many cars.

But her surprise came from the very tall, very green and very red eyed figure wearing a long purple cape that turned to look at her. She could almost feel his mind touching hers.

“Oh my!” She exclaimed, then the boy and older man spoke up.

“Bruce! Er...Batman! I mean, what's going on here? What's she doing here?

“Sir. Is this a good idea?”

“Alfred, Jason, don't worry. This is Julia and she's going to help us get Diana back.”

The large martian spoke next in his deep and slightly monotone voice. “You can trust her Bruce? I can help if you like and she is willing?”

“J'onn, to be sure I think we will need your services.” Bruce turned to Julia who had a skeptical and puzzled look on her face. “Julia, this is Jason Todd, aka Robin, Alfred, longtime friend and assistant and J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. J'onn can scan and read minds.”

“And you want him to read mine to see if I'm telling the truth.”

“Are you willing?” Bruce asked.

“Do I have a choice?” Julia said back.

“Not really. This is too important.”

“Then go for it.” Julia said and put her hands on her hips defiantly. “Ask whatever you want.”

“I don't need to ask any questions.” J'onn said as he came closer to her. “I can see your sincerity without going too deep if you are true in what you say.”

He stood still a moment and his red eyes faded just slightly. Julia stood there waiting for something to happen, but did not feel a thing.

“We can trust her Bruce.” J'onn said.

“That's it?” Julia asked. “How do I know he did anything?”

J'onn leaned over to her and whispered in her ear so only she could hear. Her eyes went wide and her hand came to her mouth as she gasped in air. “I never told anyone that! Why...you...fine!” She crossed her arms and her brows, but said nothing else as J'onn backed off.

Bruce turned to Alfred. “Where's Hespira?” And as if on queue Hespira came into the room and was headed straight for Julia. Alfred and Jason went to intercept her while Bruce waited just behind Julia. Hespira was cleaned up and no longer bloody from Cyber's pseudo skin. But she was staggering slightly and not moving too fast. The prostitute's body she now inhabited was outfitted partly with Cyber's bionic and cybernetic parts, the original woman was rather short and sickly. This was part of the cause of the mind transfer not taking well. The woman's brain and body had been damaged from excessive substance abuse and was now also diseased. She staggered towards Julia with an accusatory finger pointing at her and her other hand waving over her body.

Awesome work on this story!!... and the images are Fantastic... only I going to have to wait for Friday to read all this... can't wait to find out what happens..
