Description

The Joker had made his way to the edge of the Wayne complex when he heard someone call out... “Joker!”.

He stopped before the chain link fence and turned and saw Wonder Woman, now Dr. Cyber, and Ripper. She still wore her blue, red and gold outfit. Joker stepped toward the two and Ripper stepped in front of his master hand out and blade equipped tail blocking any closer approach. This gave the Joker pause in his tracks. “What do you want now?” Joker asked, “And keep your mechanical demon on its chain.”

“It's okay Ripper.” The figure said to the large mech. But she didn't come anymore forward. “It seems you'll get your wish for Batman's head. He escaped.”

The Joker immediately began to laugh his laugh. “HOO HOO! Surprise, surprise! Even you can't stop him! And now you're already coming back to me?! Oh this is rich! And how am I to help you now?” He smiled broadly than seemed possible.

She set down a metal attache' case next to her. “Tomorrow evening there is a ribbon cutting ceremony as the new energy plant comes on line at the edge of Arkham woods. Bring your men from the north out of Arkham woods. My men will already be there, some taking the place of the local guards and police. The mayor of Gotham will be there along with some other dignitaries including Bruce Wayne.”

“And half of the Gotham police force I'm sure.” Joker said snidely.

“That's fine, that's what we want. We want to create a big distraction and get Batman and whoever else is around to come to this event. I'll have twenty men, Arch Angel and Tank. And of course Wonder Woman will be making a surprise appearance to celebrate the occasion. When I appear, my men will quickly take action and that will be your cue to come in with guns blazing. I suggest that you hold off from killing and come in to create a hostage situation. Human shields and all. That always confounds the hero mentality. This will be the perfect test for my new body and a chance to show the world, the new me. Any police wont have a chance against us. They will be neutralized before Batman and his cronies can show, then we will crush him and anyone else with him. Even the Martian.”

She picked up the attache' and tossed it to him. “Inside is half of the money, $500 thousand, and another will be given to you when all is complete. Also inside is a map and the locations where we need to meet.”

“And you? What are you really getting out of this?” Joker asked as he took the new attache' and inspected its contents.

“This distraction will keep the law and the heroes occupied while Stealth, Reaper and Ripper perform another task for me. I need something from the old energy plant that is by Gotham Seaport. It is being shut down soon and a special generator there is to be moved the same night. The three mechs and my other task force should be able to handle that as long as they aren't beset by any strong force or super heroes. Meanwhile, we will end Batman's reign of Gotham once and for all. So, are you in?”

“Hmmmm. Heh heh. Hoh Hoh. HOO HOO HOO! I like it! Let chaos reign!” The Joker forgot his skepticism as he imagined bringing down the Batman once again. “We wont kill him either. We capture him and unveil him to the world tomorrow night! That is the only way I'll do it.”

“Agreed.” The figure of Wonder Woman said.

“Excellent. I'll round up my own boys tonight and we'll prepare for tomorrow evening. I look forward to it. I might suggest a new outfit for this new Wonder Woman too. This one is a bit.....mmmmm...goody two shoes.” Wonder Woman did not respond nor react to his comment. “Yeah, well, anyway, I'll be there tomorrow. And no tricks. I'll have enough time to make my own contingency plans if you decide to change your mind.”

“There will be no change and we will be there. Ripper, help Joker over the fence.”

The big heavy mech walked towards Joker “Hey! Woah! Careful!” Joker shouted and Ripper lifted him up and tossed him right over the fence. He landed with a grunt and a curse. “Sheesh! What's wrong with you! But...Thanks for the lift! HOO HOO.” He laughed at his own joke as he popped up on to his feet. “Tomorrow night Joker.” The image of Wonder Woman called out. “B'Bye for now doctor.” Joker replied and ran off into the woods, an attache' case in each hand. Ripper turned to the figure of Wonder Woman as it flickered and faded revealing Stealth. “Why the disguise.” “Joker needed to hear this plan from the doctor, but she is at the hideout in the woods now and will be on her way to the main lab to prepare for the upgrades. Joker would likely not make agreements with one of us mechs, only with the Doctor. We have less than twenty four hours to accomplish this and time is of the essence. He will make the perfect distraction as the Doctor and her personal guard retrieve the jet.” Ripper gave a metallic sounding “Hmph.” And continued. “And when we get to Themiscyra? Even with our upgrades, it will be tough for six of us and a few enhanced women to defeat thousands of Amazons.” “Everyone will think she is Diana and we will walk right up to the Gates of the Underworld, but no one will let her open them and that's where we come in. That is where the fight will be, but the amount of Amazons that can attack will be limited by the space allowed giving us the tactical advantage. When the Manacles are brought forth Hades will come to our aid as well. Then the doctor will make the trade.” “Will the doctor be strong enough? Will she have full control of Wonder Woman's powers by then?” Ripper asked. “I am assured she will.” Stealth replied, then cocked “her” head to the side. “You are skeptical.” “I am, but I will not deviate. I have faith. Something you don't understand yet, I'm sure. But it seems your capacity for emotional response has been growing of late.” “Yes it has. The emotive fluid is performing as expected and my positronic matrix is controlling the responses as designed. I too have a sense of....faith, where the doctor is concerned.” Stealth nodded. Ripper continued. “You're responses continue to be more human with each day. Do you ever doubt the Doctor?” “I do not. She needs us, even as Wonder Woman. Eventually the Kryptonian will be back as well as the Lantern and the others. With Batman and the Martian out of the way and Paradise Island under our control we will be nearly unstoppable.” “Nearly?” Ripper posed. “Do the calculations yourself. There are still many variables that cannot be accurately accounted for.” Stealth replied. “Indeed. I appreciate your realistic view. Sometimes it seems the Doctor chooses not to see this. I sometimes fear her overconfidence and fear her possible lack of foresight.” Stealth turned on Ripper and her lights glowed red, an indication of combat. Ripper poised himself in response, but was actually scared of the smaller yet very powerful mech. “You do not question the Doctor nor me unless you wish to leave our services, and since that is not allowed, you will be deactivated and dismantled.” She abruptly turned and walked away. Ripper dialed his defenses back and looked after her as she walked away. He was struck how she walked on her toes and how her gait was so much like the Doctor's. Continued...
