"These are the stories that the Dogs tell when the fires burn high and the wind is from the north. Then each family circle gathers at the hearthstone and the pups sit silently and listen and when the story’s done they ask many questions:
“What is man?” they’ll ask.
Or perhaps: “What is a city?”
Or: “What is a war?”
There is no positive answer to any of these questions. There are suppositions and there are theories and there are many educated quesses, but there are no answers."
“City” – Clifford D. Simak, 1952
This is a tribute to Clifford Simak, IMO a great pioneering Sci-Fi writer. Simak started writing for science fiction pulp magazines in 1931, The Creator (1935), a notable story with religious implications, a rarity in genre science fiction at the time and a theme he would use again in many of his novels. Quite a few of his stories have a pastoral motif. If you have never read any of his novels I urge you to seek them out. Simak died in 1988.
Robots are by bazze and Daz, grass is by ornlu, trees and vegatation are by myself, dogs are Daz, post in PS7. Thanks for your attention.

Terrific tribute to Clifford D. Simak, one of my favorite sci-fi writers. There's something about this picture that I would really like even without the quotation. It's just a scene that grabs at one's heart.
