Description
Here's a painting I did before "Taino Love 2", I called it "Cemi Island" the cemi is made of stone and it was used by the Taino Indians of the caribbean. They mostly lived on islands like Cuba, Haiti/Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico just to name a few.
The Cemi stone, with its three cardinal points, is a fundamental symbol used by the Taino. Many Tainos name the three points "Yocahu Bagua Maorocoti," which is another word for the Creator, Yaya, as represented by the world's indigenous peoples at the time of the coming of Guamikinas.
The Tainos where the orginal people who discoverd Columbus.

A very appealing image. I love the colours and the feeling of a lino print, so reminicent of the great Island art of the 1950's. Thanks for sharing this with us.
