Well, I had my appointment yesterday with my Urologist. I left the session feeling totally bummed out and numb (not comfortably, mind you).
I learned that when she went in to remove the bladder stones, she discovered that the tumor was over 8 cm in size and had attached itself quite nicely to my bladder wall. On top of this news, I learned that this cancer is rare in the US and is usually only seen where a parasite is found. The technical name for this cancer is Squamous cell carcinoma and was malignant. Now, two options were verbalized: remove the bladder, have the urine go out my navel into a bag, or have a bladder replacement surgery. I chose door number two.
Due to this cancer's nature, I need to have this done within 6 weeks or less. I will be going over to OHSU to have the procedure done.
I will keep you fine people apprised of the situation during this time frame.

Not such great news Mike, dang ! Hope this can be fixed and you recover. Option 2 sounds best. I can't image going the way of first especially with my going issues in which I also need a urologist, just too scared myself. I have you in thoughts and prayers Mike.
Been bad news all week, Mark's dear sister Lynn, Eddie Van Halen, and another musician and your condition. Take care.

Geez that sucks. Well at least you have a couple of options - big "C" isn't always that kind. Keep us posted as best you can - I'm praying for quick recovery and minimal side issues brother.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. It sucks and it sounds like you just had to take a big bite out of that crap sandwich. I am sending my best wishes and all of my good thoughts your way. It is more important that I say this.
Your work with the light emmiting surfaces is quite good.
Madbat () 8:47PM | Thu, 08 October 2020
Oh dear. Really do keep us appraised of your situation as best as you can Mike. And I'm with Daggerwilldo, that crap sammich really sucks.
I really like your experiment in emmissives. It reminds me of a Blue Man Group kinda sorta production. Most cool.

Rest assured you are firmly in mine and Jo's prayers for a full and swift recovery, buddy. It was good talking to you, but I wish you'd had much better news.. Yeah, the sooner the better on getting that taken care of, where the big, nasty 'C' word is concerned. We're all pulling for you, Mike.
Your emissives look really great, buddy! May her light shine on you!

I'll be praying for you. You in Oregon? Me too!
Also, this is a great render. Very cool work. Love the lighting.

you're a very loved person here, and rightly so...I wish you everything good, and I hope they get it all out, and that you come out of it whole and free forever. I'm so sorry you've had to deal with so much these last years: Much healing to you, you deserve it all. (I love the image, btw; I don't know what "emmisives" are, but the image is luminous and dark and beautifully abstract, like a neon robot goddess...) All the best to you mike. I'll tell the powers of the universe it's time to give you total light and healing. May they listen...

Yeah, go for door #2. Sounds like a better option than #1.
bakapo () 10:42PM | Thu, 08 October 2020
I'm sorry the news wasn't better, Mike. You'll be in my thoughts as you go forward with treatment and recovery. I'm sending you lots of love and good wishes.
Your image is cool; she glows!

Such a great image but shocked by the news, so sorry to hear that Mike - it makes me so sad and you will be in my prayers! Yes option two sounds the best.

Oh, noo! That‘s shocking news! I hope everything goes well and you have a quick and uneventful recovery! The older I get the more I cross the way with people who suffer from one or the other kind of cancer. That’s somewhat frightening. An aunt of mine was diagnosed with colon cancer. She went to the hospital where she was operated on the same week. Two weeks later I received the news that she had died. The cancer had been active for too long and had metastasized. This shocked me down to the core. So better get it removed as quick as possible. I‘m sending you all my best wishes and healing thoughts.
Emmisives are a cool thing, but I discovered, they can throw your render time up to the stars.

Your emmissives are great! Your news not so much, but I don't have to tell you that. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, but you have choices, maybe not great ones but still some empowerment over your situation. I am praying for good results and a speedy recovery for you. I know words are pretty lame at a time like this, but sometimes it's all we have to reach out with. You're a great person and well loved by all. Just keep us posted and know we are supportive of you always.

I pray you find the strength and hold strong. The transplant surgery does sound the better option.
tetrasnake () 6:43AM | Fri, 09 October 2020
I'll be praying for you, Mike. Focus on getting yourself well. I know the feeling myself.
Also, this is good work! Reminds me of the stuff from the 80s group, The Power Station!

When I become God and master of the universe, I will completely eliminate cancer from existence! Until then we will just have to deal with it the best we can and hope that modern medicine will come up with a cure! I'm not a religious kind of person but I will say a prayer for you. Remember a positive mental attitude is really important for recovery. Hang in there, good buddy.

very disheartening news Mike and I wish the very best for a real recovery. I like your sci-fi tone art

Ugh, I had a friend go through a similar procedure but he came out OK at the end--he's 80 and they were concerned, but it worked out for the best. May it go smoothly for you as well!
