Description
I was browsing the other day and came across JoeJarrah's picture "Awakening" https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/gallery/?image_id=3014274 which is his take on the Pygmalion and Galatea Greek myth. He did a very nice interpretation and it reminded me of one I had done many years ago, before Daz, using Poser and Bryce. His was much nicer and it inspired me to try again with the new tools available now. So this is the result of that endeavor.

Nice work, i really like the restrained palette, combines well the the geometry of the setting.
Interestingly she's never called Galatea in classical times, either by the Greeks or Romans; that's a much later French invention, probably first used by Rousseau in 1762...

Thanks for the comment. I just finished another version with a less restrained palette just for comparison. It is interesting, at least to me, how the term classic or classical can be so fluid in our usage. I am sure that the Greek and Roman art was considered classical by the 19th century artists, (and of course is still today) but we also consider the works of folks like Waterhouse and Beaugerough to be classic as well. And then we have the music I grew up with in the 60s and 70s referred to as classic rock and roll. But somehow, though the music and cars I grew up with might be considered classic, I am just old. :)
