I try not to disparage the old gal. Truly, I got nothing against Victoria 4.2. Main reason I don't use her much? I got in with the 8th generation, and frankly, the clothes are better. Not to say that some of the older clothes aren't good. Just that we've come a long way with cloth physics and texturing and all that. The second reason you don't see me pull her out much, has more to do with the plain simple fact that later generations are easier to work with. There's less of a struggle to get things right. I don't spend nearly as much time correcting things like broken shoulders. Here, I used a pose MADE for Victoria 4.2 and the shoulders were both... ugly. Bad. Even before I applied the body morph. That... Well, when I opened up Daz studio I was just going to do a side-by-side comparison of 4.2 Vs 8.1 for a bit of fun. They started out dressed, too. Only, Vicky 4 loads with that awful underwear skin, and the skin she comes with without underwear has no nipples, which shouldn't have been a concern if clothes were involved. Only... It was a rabbit trail. It's more efficient to run an iray render if all surfaces have iray settings. I found a bump map. Then the clothes looked bad in comparison, even though I chose one of the simplest outfits available for 8.1. I got the skin looking halfway decent, and decided to heck with the clothes on VIcky 4. Obviously straying far from my original intent. (I'm going to try again, I swear!) I guess the goal became to half them look alright together. Without clothes, i needed a different skin. I chose "Helena for V4." I rendered it out, but found an issue, so I went back in. Decided might as well apply Helena's shape, too. Which isn't all that different from the base. It adds curves and softens the jaw just a bit, making her look less like a mannequin. And that skin! It looks pretty good. Then I noticed she was shiny, and 8.1 was not. At this point, I had tweaked 8.1's skin a bit, too. By accident, but I liked the result. (Apparently SY's 3delight to iray converter thinks she has 3delight surfaces.) Digging into it, I found that Vicky 4 had metal flake on, and her glossy roughness was at 0.50. Setting it to 0.25 made her look plastic, setting it to .75 made her... well, much closer to how 8.1 looked. (She's at .74.) I removed Metal flake, and almost hit the render buttion, pretty happy. But out of curiosity I set 8.1's Glossy roughness to .5 and gave her metal flake at 0.0090, the same that Vicky 4 had. Made me think of a model shoot. They sometimes put baby oil on their skin. Once I reset 4.2 to the same settings, I decided this was what I should go with. Now, her hair is Legacie hair. I used it on my Princess. It's a great set, and I'm probably going to find more like it because having a gen 7 set come with fits for 4.2, and 2 is AWESOME. Without it, this image wouldn't be nearly so good. 8.1 is wearing Chameleon Rose Sideswept hair, available here in the freebies. I applies a tattoo that came with Rochelle, and lipstick and liner, to go with the makeup on 4.2, who got a nice choker, and... DONE. One filter pass in GIMP, and we're good to go. (National Geographic filter on default) I hope you enjoy! I'll try to do a side-by-side with NO tweaks soon, and see if I can do clothes have them not look out of place with each other.
