Description
From Homer's Odyssey, following on from my depiction of the sirens of a few months ago.
M4 with Luthbel's Ad Gladio armour, V4 with Creatura Harpy on DAZ. The trireme is retextured to the best of my ability but not really holding up that well in closeup iray renders.

Nice work, but I believe those are Harpies, not the Sirens. The Sirens are the ones that sit on the rocks and lure the entranced sailors to their death.

In classical mythology, the sirens were bird-women, and are depicted as such on numerous Greek vases et, famously the Vulci stamnos from 450 BC in the British Museum, showing sirens swooping down on Odysseus's ship. Sirens are distinguished form harpies (that look more or less the same) by their voices.
The iconography of sirens as mermaids is relatively recent, introduced in Medieval Europe, though it has persistedin popular culture ever since.
