Description
Genesis really did have some potential. Just the fitting of clothes between the two genders alone makes me a little sad that it didn't get the love it deserves. Victoria 4 got texture expansions to bring her more in live with G* - why not Genesis?
Anyway, this is a doodle. I couldn't tell you the character. She's a 'bash. The skin, I believe, is an "elite" texture, I remember that much. A character for Stephanie 5 that came as JUST a texture, which is odd but it worked.
I got more elaborate stuff to get to today. I wasn't sure I was even going to post this, but... *shrugs*
Why not?
Piratess hair. It's ok, but sure didn't like the hair shader I tried on it to make it a little more modern. I would fiddle with fitting a newer hair to the character, but I ran out of time.
She's got the Highlander sword from the Zweiahnder set. The outfit is some kind of warrior outfit, if I remember right. I made this day before yesterday and I didn't think to really pay attention. That was a LONG day, and I was actually surprised I made art that day.
Next will be a new hero using the Raven's Road Warrior set from chasfh. The GM for the superhero TTRPG I'm getting involved in really likes the set, so I'm making an NPC hero for him.
Speaking of, she did render up nice and quick. That's always a plus, right?

Love to see the older models. I thought they could have done more for the series as well. Excellent job on pulling out the best they had to offer.

When the SHTF and the ZA comes around, I want her on my team. However, comma, I want her to wear a little more armor than what she has now.
Lol. For sure. I've always liked the barbarian aesthetic. I find it weird that we'll have art of men in thongs, and then the ladies have something skimpy to cover their chests. As if modesty were a concern to a barbarian! So I like to do images like these.
I want to get the converter that takes G8M to G8F to convert the "Beastmaster" set. I did an image similar to this, but the dang autofit does some weird things to the armor. It's a nice set, too. If I weren't saving for a trip I'd pick it up today, lol.
I think I might do a follow-up with her staring down a giant. Could be fun. In any case, I think I got one of Aspen for Gia in my gallery you ought to like.

For an older generation figure, Genesis is still pretty useful. Nice work on this!
For sure! Especially if you need to fill up a background. Very quick to set up several figures. Dial in whatever shape you want, dress, convert to iray. Maybe apply a little DOF so your foreground takes center stage.
Plus, they're still fun to play around with. The clothing options are hefty, and they wear V4/M4 quite well.

Stunning!

Some of the older figures are cool... I still rather like V4, despite how basic she looks in comparison, probably because that's where I started with all my clothing and props projects!
She forgot to get dressed though, right? Can't say I've ever done that yet, but I hope I look that good when I do!
Yes. She's missing her fur cloak. Well, I say cloak, but really it's just the hide of the bear she wrestled when she was ten.
I do enjoy going through the older assets. I got in on G8, but I've always been a bit of a retro fiend, so I have no bias. Sure, G8 is fantastic. But that doesn't mean that older models don't shine as well. And converters can't quite get everything I wish they would.

beautiful render!

Wonderful fantasy image. For my part, I really prefer G8, but in this picture you really excelled with Genesis 1
There was no G9 because they want G8 to replace V4, M4 ... There is still a lot of work to do before overtaking V4...
I think at this stage, simply increasing texture detail, and working out all the kinks with dforce, and adding in features, and fixing bugs - all would be better than building a G9. Also, replace Daz Horse 2. Please. Because Centaur 8 could have been special and instead we have beautiful models that attach to a plastic horse. (Same with Centaur 3, really)
I have both centaur 3 and 8, and yet I don't think I've posted a single render of it. One of these days, I'll see if I can streamline the work needed to get it to shine. Heck, even Hivewire could stand to at least update their horse mane meshes.
I don't know why I got on that tangent. I apologize, and hope you have a lovely day!

Very nice!
I think the Genesis and Genesis 2 where way too fast replaced by G3 and G8. They didn't really have enough time to develop their potential really. I, my self actually didn't pay much attention to Genesis, because of all the stuff I had for V4, Then came G2 and I still wasn't really into it, although it started to get interesting. Compared to V4 (which you mostly can recognize immediately) G2 somehow offered a more fresh look, but the base mesh was significantly reduced in polygons, which made the creation of morphs more difficult. With G3, there where effectively massive improvements concerning the realism and the joints and bending - that was the time, when V4 started to retire in my renders and I jumped on the Genesis (3) train.
For sure. There is a certain aesthetic though that can be fun to explore. I think Genesis would work great for some comic-book style stuff. If there were more hours in the day, I might even explore that, lol. I think Isle of Prentiss started with G2 models, iirc, and that's a wonderful story.
Every time I load an older generation, I feel some drive to learn how to create bump maps. Which leads to wanting to figure out how to actually improve those older hair meshes, because some styles are great but end up looking weird in a render due to lack of detail.
If only there were more hours in the day...

I didn't get seriously into DAZ / iray until much later. I did however have some great fun with importing V4 in the day and using iray. The results were always very nice. Its fun to see you just playing around with it.. I am totally enjoying your renders of legacy items you are finding buried deep in the content folders. Well done.

When i started, all was genesis 2 and at first i thought that i would only do genesis 2 and so only buy gen 2 stuff. O, what was i wrong. Did make some renders with genesis more than with v4 and m4. Hope they fix d farce. We can only hope. Looks good!
