Description
Old horse-drawn carriage (1850) from the collection of the Château de Chenonceau
A dogcart (or dog-cart) is a light horse-drawn vehicle, with a box behind the driver's seat to contain one or more retriever dogs.
A French version having four wheels and seats set back to back was a dos-à-dos (French for "back-to-back") (infos Wikipedia)

Cette voiture hippomobile, qui pouvait transporter des chiens, est en très bon état et superbe avec ces couleurs.......mais il valait mieux qu'il fasse beau pour l'utiliser.........magnifique prise de vue, Jean-Claude !

Always nice to see them in their real settings. Carrages in every way should find their places to the castles where they belong. I did see a collection from over all Europe and often had these thoughts

This is very interesting. I guess these type of carts were used to transfer hunting dogs...I always enjoy learning/seeing something new to me historically-thanks J_C.

J'ai appris tout récemment ( merci la télé !) qu'il existe des habilitations officielles pour pouvoir conduire des calèches comme celle-ci, et que ce mode de déplacement est en pleine recrudescence, en notre 21ème siècle : la nature humaine !!! Une belle photo, J-Claude, merci pour le partage ! 🧑👍
