Description

Leather jacket, fingerless gloves, and open boots. I know. I've been overdoing that outfit lately. But it's sexy. So...you know. Gettin' realllllll tired of fighting Daz's lights. "Lumens".....really? How about watts? Or even better, how about something easy like Poser's lights. You just move the slider and it gets proportionately brighter. That way I wouldn't have to go from 5,000 to 500,000 just to see any change. (grumble, grumble) Do not like. I'm adding a lot more lights in Daz than I ever did in Poser just to get enough light in the scene to see what's going on. I must be doing something wrong. Probably a simple thing in the settings. But it's frustrating as hell. Lighting is what makes a render look good. If you're using the standard set up that comes when you open a new scene, you're never going to have it look nice. I spent years in Poser getting it all right in my head. And now, boo hoo hoody hoo, it doesn't translate to Daz. And that makes me sad. Sad in the pants. (insert frowny emoji) I need a good Daz/Iray settings tutorial.

One cure is to use the fake sun in the render settings--it gives a really nice light but you need to do it in an empty setting with just a sphere primitive to start so you can see which direction the sun is shining (there is no marking for the "directions" on the dome as far as I know.) Paper Tiger makes some really good reliable hdri sets as well, I have a couple of those I like a lot. I like this devil and his sexy tail, waiting on a friend :D

Well sexy little devil. Nice work. I don't know about DAZ. I started using it when they went to making so many things just for DAZ studio. But I hate using DAZ studio, can't find one redeeming quality about it.

Great image! There are a couple of super easy lighting tricks:

  1. Go into Render Settings, click on the Tone Mapping option, then change the Exposure Value from the default of 13 to 12 or 11. The default setting assumes you're doing an outdoor render and have plenty of light. Lower values are more indoor.

  2. Add a HDRI map - it will really brighten up your renders. DimensionTheory makes some fabulous ones and several are on sale right now.

(Tiny voice so as to stay friends with the Poser users) There are several lighting got creating sunlight in doors, not the least of which is the ever present lamp. There is also one of my favorite cheats, use a emissive primitive somewhere out of the veiwport that will allow for the type of lighting you want. Think of it exactly like you would when wielding a camera. Photographers often bring their own light to the party.

That being said, he looks sexy and sartorially perfect. Pants are over rated.
