Description

Three old friends get together for an evening of drinking they’ll never forget… if any of them remember it, that is! ==NOTES== I always bring renders through the Camera Raw filter in Photoshop CC, but since I got Topaz Studio 2 I also check out what I can do in that, esp. with the painterly effects. Usually I have a strong preference for the version with or without adjustments in TS2, but this time I just can’t decide which I like best. So, in a rare move for me, I’m posting both! This is the one that did not go through TS2. Rendered in June 2020 in Poser Pro 11 Firefly at 4400 × 2475 pixels. View full size on my blog (which has both images on the same page). ==CREDITS== SCENE: Curious Pub by Jack Tomalin; Photo Props: Ancient Candles by ShaaraMuse (on a dish by me); Tall burner by DM; Beer mugs by me (with "fantasy" rather than "realistic" glass mats!) CHARACTER: Hein, Kena, and Malik figures & apparel by Nursoda.

Great fun!!
I'm curious as to why they didn't go IN the pub? Save the bouncer the effort of throwing them out?? Claustrophobia? so they can people watch?? Super image!

Apparently the pub's proprietor, Mr. Tomalin, wanted to discourage his more disreputable customers from spending much time inside his fine establishment, so he chose not to model an interior :-)

A fine version of this image as well! Such clarity when compared to the other one! I like both styles. It is like having two dimensions to compare. Well done.

Thanks for the comments! Your point about this version having more clarity made me think: maybe I should've done this one when the night first started, and the other one after the empty beer mugs began piling up!!

I really like your artistic style. Sometime when you have a free moment I'd like it if you could tell me a bit about the tools you describe. I learn a lot from you and thank you for your technical help.

Thank you! I'm assuming by "tools" you mean Photoshop's Camera Raw filter and Topaz Studio 2? Photoshop comes with Camera Raw available as a filter, so you can use it on any type of image (doesn't have to have been in RAW format -- I save my final renders out of Poser in PSD format.) I'm no expert by any means, but just playing around with a few of the options always makes a huge improvement! Topaz Studio is a separate "art effects" app by Topaz Labs that works either stand alone or as a filter for Photoshop, and it's best known for having a wide variety of adjustment and artistic filters that can lend images a painterly look. I've tried various similar apps over the years but never found one I liked well enough to purchase, until this one. Hope that helps -- but if you have more questions, please feel free to message me!

Excellent render and great expressions to this night of drinking. The lighting is very well done and detail. Both versions are good but I am more partial to this version due to the clarity. Superb!

Thanks for the comment! I'm also often partial to versions of art that have more clarity, and I chalk that up to failing eyesight! Sometimes renders with too much DOF effect make me feel anxious, as though my eyes aren't working quite right, so I tend to err on the side of more stuff being in focus and sharply clear. But it was fun to see how the art effect on the other piece contributed to a kind of "drunken haze" look!

Wonderful image!!! I do like them both but prefer this one more. The effects are well done on the second image though, it gives me a flashback or dream vibe.

Thanks for the comment. Nothing to forgive you for! I shared both b/c I couldn't decide which I liked best, and it's OK if viewers can't decide either!
