Description

Pencils.

Mónica suffers from some physical deformity, minor mental retardation, and various other medical problems that have made her life extremely difficult. She is a beautiful person, but it is rare to see her quite as happy as she was when she got this hug from her father on her 50th birthday.

Thank you to both. Mónica was very pleased. Marcos (her father) gave it a nod and a grunt, then asked for me to write their ages on it (80 and 50) which I did. Marcos almost never expresses any emotion at all (part of the reason why the hug itself was so special), so I interpreted this as enthusiastic approval.

I am glad you enjoyed it. The expression on Mónica's face is very accurate and I am proud of it. On Marcos I think it is not quite right. There was a little more of a subtle smile on him that I didn't quite capture.
