Description

A bit of a let down with this image: the character's face is a mix of morphs, and looked good when expressionless, but once I tried a variety of smile morphs, it's not as attractive. Back to the drawing board for me. But since I put a lot of time into the rest of the scene I decided to post it anyway.

Smile morphs are fairly bad, In fact most of the expression morphs vendors sell looks down right horrible if one applies them to anything other than the exact character it is meant for. Adding face morphs / having a custom character morph changes the geometry of the face and hence the expression morphs no longer work properly. I really find the only solution is to use a application like ZBrush / Blender, etc to manually sculpt the smile to make it look more natural. I have spent a fair bit of time trying to make my custom character (Miho) smile properly and I will spent countless more hours in trying to create a big natural smile for her.... I guess more work in needed by Daz to improve the expressions of the genesis based characters. Otherwise each one of us will have to work on our own with ZBrush and other apps like it to make our characters smile naturally.

All true, Rajib. In this case, I think the combined face morphs totalled over 100% and that's why the smile didn't work here.
