Friday Harbor Marina San Juan Island (Thanks for pointing out my typo, Andrea! LOL! Although the boats ARE a bit dingy, it wasn't my intention to make you think this was another English-as-a-foreign-language thing.) :P I've got albums up now over at Flickr, one for each year from 2007 to 2014. It's about 200 pictures, and I must say, I like the way it looks as a gallery! Scrolling through the pictures is pretty impressive. The horizontal format looks a lot nicer than RR's vertical format. I'll be checking out groups and continuing to post albums before I start posting current images. It's kind of fun, going through my old shots! :)

I was thinking turtles for some reason. Then I realized 'turned turtle' is a phrase that describes a capsized boat. I never flipped one myself but I do have a pair of glasses at the bottom of San Francisco Bay. This is a nice image. Makes me want to take one out on the water.

We spell it 'dinghy' so when I read the ebot i was expecting some grubby rundown quayside ! I was a keen dinghy sailor myself but mine was wooden and required intensive winter care. These bathtubs are easier maintenance!

yeah (ala andrea), it comes from the Hindi, so it was originally spelled "dinghy," even though "dingy" is also used; and when I saw the ebot, I thought of some cartoon character: Dingy Dock! (Hey kids: It's Dingy Dock!) Really sounds like one, doesn't it?

But instead you made this a very painterly piece, with boats spread out like broad strokes of oil paint. A very horizontal piece! And you present these boats in a very brush-like manner. The background--- boats, water, railings, etc---all give compact detail to balance out those long broad surfaces up front. I reeeeeeally like your treatment, Tara. It feels like a big painting, and you handle the bright surfaces beautifully. This isn't a style I remember too much of, in your gallery; and you do it really well and naturally.

Yeah! A good day in a little boat on a quiet bay and a fishing pole, would be nice. Especially if I got a Cod fish. YUM. Gives me nice memories, Tara :)

There are so many white hulls in a marina that it is difficult to find something unique...but you did. Great eye. Like the repetition. And yes, there is a painterly quality that just lures me in... Mighty nice.

Ringa-dinga-dingy.... Oh, sorry...... I don't even know where that came from... I've been out working in the backyard all day, and maybe I got into something weird out there...LOL

Seriously, this is a really lovely shot, Tara. Great composition, and wonderful curves and patterns.
