Eddie thought he was just a rent boy, even though he wasnt — and for some unfathomable reason, Eddie never noticed that the money he left behind was never touched. André, for his part, just liked Eddie, but he didnt want to be seen as someone taking advantage of a rich man’s wealth. So he created this scenario of being a hooker so that, in his words, “You could tell your friends that I wasnt in it for your money. I was already getting it.” By his logic, if Eddie’s business associates knew André was just a day labourer, they’d be suspicious of Eddie’s ability as a negotiator. So André tripped that up by pretending to be something he wasnt just so he could be with a man he truly loved. There’s probably a rom com in there somewhere, huh. A bit of bumper material for a few days, then on to our Oscar storyline!... er, storylines... er... you'll see.
