Most of the pictures of Dunas Maspalomas I posted were taken during the evening, just before sundown. This one, like number 1 in this series, is an exception and taken in broad daylight. What you see here is a massive dune just a footsteps aaway from the Atlantic Ocean.
The sand grains are not yellow and grey only, but also black as a result of the volcanic soil of Gran Canaria.

Seems to break the rules of composition, but is a strong image anyway & conveys the size of the dunes very well. Damn the rules, they're made to be broken...
