Description
it an 11x14 canvas. small for me. But it is finished as i know of . maybe a little touch up .
anyway i studing colors here. I got a book on skin color name is "Color Nixing Recipes" by william F. powell. I been useing it for about a year and every one say by people looks better . So that good
i used mostly 1 part raw sienna and 3 parts white for the skin. I may have added some alizarin and viridian for the darker areas. the background is 3 parts white and one part viridian green which if i used that would gray the skin colors. I may have done that too but I do not think I did. as i wanted to see how the green would look as a background.
the pants is ultramarine blue black and white and the back ground is raw sienna white specks of cal. red alizarin and viridian green which would gray the pants if used
chair is black white and some raw sienna and burn sienna.
I noted the angel of the chair also set a energy to the image that i liked. was not planning it but it worked out fine. learn something there also

I loved your description of colors, here. The use of raw sienna really gives a bronze-like undertone to his skin, esp in the face. It gives a deep feeling to his face. And your use of ultramarine blue with black and white always create a vivid, throbbing energy. And you paint such expressive folds and furls in clothing: One could get lost in those furls.
Your background is wonderfully pastoral and restful. The high amount of white makes it stand out. And I really like your visible mixing---we can see green and white inter-mix across the background; as we can see the sienna and red (etc) undulate on the floor. Your colors have always been very vivid and expressive. And when one looks at the photo, and then at your painting, one can see how intensely you draw the inner life out of the photo: You draw out the inner electricity. Even the man's eyes, in your painting, are so intense. And your profound 'lights' in his pants---your whites mixed with the blues---make those pants a living entity. His clothes are filled with his spirit.
Another truth-filled painting of a musician, by you. And your choice to simplify the backgrounds allows you to bring-out great energies and life-forces. It's a painting of the inner musician, in which everything he wears and touches comes to life...
